À L’ancienne is our classic, 84km retro bike challenge. It’s hard enough to feel like a real day out but easy enough to be tackled by any reasonably fit cyclist. Along the way, you’ll take in Coniston Water, Windermere, Esthwaite Water, Wray Castle and more wonderful scenery than you’ll see in the average year! Not enough? You even have the option of a final ride up the track to the Sir John Barrow Monument, before returning home. This is becoming a ‘must do’ with the majority of riders taking the option in 2017!
As always, there’s magical food stops featuring huge slices of cake in fabulous settings. It’s all about fun, friendship and a great, shared experience.
À L’ancienne is for you if you love the joy and simplicity of old school cycling. If you love the bikes and the kit and the stories of the great cycling heroes of the past. Whatever your reason for riding, all that matters to us is that you have a wonderful day in one of the most stunning places in Europe.
So dig out the cycling cap and goggles, wrap the tube around your shoulders, polish the bike, slip on the old leather shoes and we’re away!
If you don’t have a vintage bike, we’ll have high quality hire bikes available, there will also be a full vintage market to top up your wardrobe!
À L’ancienne, another magical day at the magical Velo Retro Festival.
Congrats on an excellent day on Sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed it and you now have another convert as my son thought it was so good that he's already put it in his diary for next year. Sadly I ate so much on the way round that I couldn't manage the pie and peas at the end! Luckily I managed to force down some of that excellent Mello Velo. Anyway it was as they say A grand day out!
Thanks Alan and Ali for a brilliant event!! We all had a great time and a fantastic ride! We will be back!
